Iran Film Festival arrives in Penang

The second round of the first Iranian Film Festival has been kicked off in Malaysian city of Penang.

The first edition of Iranian Film Festival has been under way since March 7 in Malaysia. The opening of the festival took place in Kuala Lumpur.

The festival is currently running in Penang and the next city to host the festival is planned to be Johor.

Some six Iranian movies are scheduled to go on screen during the 11-day festival. The movies are 'Queen' by Mohammad-Ali Bashe-Ahangar, Kioumars Pourahmad's 'Where are My Shoes?', Kamal Tabrizi's 'Sweet Taste of Imagination', 'Crazy Rook' by Abolhassan Davoudi, 'Under the Smoky Roof' by Pouran Derakhshandeh, and 'Cease fire 2'.

'Sweet Taste of Imagination' was the movie to be screened on the first evening of the event.

A short synopsis of the movie reads, ' A man so fascinated with protecting the environment that he has dedicated his entire life to it.'

The event is aimed at expanding mutual cultural ties, as well as promoting Iranian cinema industry among the Malaysian people and cineastes. 

The first Iranian Film Festival in Malaysia is underway since March 7, to continue until March 17, 2018.
